Inpex gets first LNG at new Japan facility

Japanese upstream Inpex has received the first LNG shipment at its new 1mn t/ yr Naoetsu import terminal on the country’s northwest coast. The 154,800m~3 Tangguh Foja arrived early on 27 August at the terminal, which is undergoing test operations. It delivered about 70,000t of LNG from Indonesia under a contract signed with utility Chubu Electric Power last month. Inpex has agreed to buy 17 LNG cargoes, or 1mn t, from the utility’s portfolio until March 2018. Chubu’s portfolio totals nearly 9mn t/yr.
