An engineering consortium that includes Australia’s Cimic and Italy’s Saipem has declared a dispute with Chevron over payment for a jetty at the 15.6mn t/yr Gorgon LNG project in Western Australia. Cimic said last month that the consortium had issued a formal dispute notice to Chevron. The notice effectively stipulates that the firms must enter further negotiations over the matter. Arbitration could take place should these discussions prove unsuccessful.
