Asia-Pacific has room for more than one LNG hub, but Singapore’s strategic location and access to a downstream environment that supports LNG flows put it in a strong position to be the first to come on line, the country’s trade promotion agency, International Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore), says. “We are keen to become LNG hubs and we are trying to figure out our value propositions to serve consumers,” IE Singapore assistant chief executive Satvinder Singh said at the LNG Global Congress in Singapore on 2 March, referring to the aspirations of Singapore, Shanghai, in China, and Japan’s Tokyo. “Asia-Pacific is ready for multiple hubs, but each will find its own strength and niche in time.”
