Equatorial Guinea secures FLNG

Bermuda-based shipping firm Golar LNG has agreed to supply Africa-focused Ophir Energy with a 2.2mn t/yr floating liquefaction (FLNG) vessel to use offshore Equatorial Guinea. The contract is a processing agreement for 20 years, with the country’s Fortuna LNG export project expected to start operations in the first half of 2019. It will be ratified by Equatorial Guinea state-owned oil firm GEPetrol in the week of 11 May, Golar says, with a final investment decision to be taken in the first six months of next year.
