Samsung relents on Indian LNG shipbuilding deal

South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries has agreed to transfer technology to an Indian shipyard, paving the way for its participation in a multi-billion dollar tender to build LNG carriers. Samsung has signed a deal with India’s Cochin, Indian oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan says. The agreement follows recent “consistent efforts” between Delhi and Seoul to persuade South Korean shipyards to collaborate with their Indian counterparts, he says.
