Low oil prices may trim small-scale LNG demand

Low oil prices could dampen demand for LNG from the small-scale industry such as haulage, Russian state-controlled Gazprom’s gas transport chief, Tatiana Fayzallina, said at the World LNG Summit in Paris in November. LNG is usually cheaper than oil products. But falling global products demand, including for diesel, has weighed on the whole oil market. Crude prices have fallen by more than 40pc since June, while diesel prices are down by around 25pc since July, eroding LNG’s price advantage.
