ExxonMobil cuts InterOil’s gas estimates

The Elk and Antelope onshore gas fields in Papua New Guinea (PNG) contain resources of 4 trillion-5 trillion ft~3 (113bn- 141bn m~3), according to ExxonMobil, far below US independent InterOil’s estimate of 9 trillion ft~3. InterOil is in discussions about selling an interest in petroleum retention lease 15 (PRL 15), which contains Elk and Antelope, to ExxonMobil. But disagreements over gas resource potential and political considerations could derail the agreement.
