Russian state-controlled Gazprom’s marketing and trading unit GMT took delivery of its newest ice-class LNG tanker on 25 July. GMT took delivery of the vessel from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea. GMT will time-charter the 155,000m~3 Yenisai River, which has a 1A ice class rating, from Greek shipping firm Dynagas for several years. The Yenisai River is the second LNG vessel GMT has acquired under such an arrangement. It also controls the 150,000m~3 Ob River, which in November last year became the first LNG tanker to traverse the northern sea route from Russia’s Arctic coast to Asia-Pacific.
