African LNG bids to overtake Qatar

The gathering momentum from recent east African gas finds and new liquefaction projects is lending more weight to Africa’s growing presence on the LNG spot market. Total export capacity by LNG producers across Africa has the potential to trump the world’s largest producer Qatar — which has 77mn t/yr of capacity — by 2018 if existing projects go ahead as planned.
