Main Directions of Integrated Development of Rural Areas of Russia

The main problems of the development of rural areas of Russia are considered. Particular attention is focused on the issues of employment, poverty, housing, high-quality potable water, network gas, and road network development, since today almost one-third of villages and hamlets are in transport isolation. The state of the social sphere is analyzed. An assessment of the implementation of the state program for the integrated development of rural areas is given, and directions for its improvement are proposed. The findings on the typology of the subjects of the Russian Federation and municipalities with account for socioeconomic and environmental indicators can serve as a basis for a more efficient distribution of state support. The importance of scientific support for the integrated development of rural areas is emphasized. This article is based on a paper presented at a meeting of the RAS Presidium on December 22, 2020.
