The strategy, entitled Protecting people and places, sets out HSE's priorities for 2022-23, including its new responsibilities of establishing the Building Safety Regulator as part of the Government's reforms of the building and fire safety system. The new regulator will oversee the safety and standards of all buildings, help the built environment industry and building control professionals to improve their competence and lead the implementation of the new regulatory framework for high-rise buildings. HSE will also be taking on an expanded remit as the appointed authority for the regulation of chemicals, pesticides, biocides and detergents, following the UK's departure from the EU.
