Azeri state-owned Socar would prefer a number of firms to buy Norwegian statecontrolled Statoil’s 20pc stake in the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (Tap), rather than it being sold to just one company, chief executive Rovnag Abdullayev says. The Tap shareholder structure is “highly politicised”, a source close to the project says, adding that Italian gas grid operator Snam, Iran and Russia are interested in taking a share in the pipeline, which will run to Italy from the Turkish border through Greece and Albania.
