Current Bluetooth design used in Vehicles, pages the favorite device/ last connected device first after it is turned ON. This can cause unintended experience for vehicles. For example, when a customer turns the Vehicle ON in the garage, with the current implementation, the Vehicle can page devices which are inside the house. The Bluetooth sessions will transfer to the Vehicle, and this causes a bad customer experience. Also in the instance, where a customer is driving back, and already connected to his phone, and the Vehicle allows multiple Devices, the Vehicle can page and connect to a Device at home. If the device at home is already in a Bluetooth (BT) session, this can cause a very bad customer experience. This innovation considers looking at distance to vehicle as a metric before sending the Paging request. This allows the Bluetooth System to not page devices which are not within an Acceptable In-vehicle Range. This will allow for (1) lower incorrect connections, and (2) lower delays to connect to the correct device.
