Bulk metallic glasses with nominal compositions of Zr46Cu40-xAg6+xAl8 (x = 0 & 2.5) were prepared by copper mold casting technique. Different techniques such as X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry were used to investigate their amorphous nature as well as thermal stability. The crystallization activation energy for both alloys was evaluated by Kissinger plots and found to be 334 and 341 kJ/mol, respectively. Different parameters such as reduced glass transition temperature, fragility parameter, and gamma-parameter were calculated from DSC scans using different methods. All thermal parameters indicate that increase of Ag in Zr(Cu-Ag)Al BMG system results in better glass-forming ability and thermal stability of the alloy system.
