Sakhalin 2 resumes normal operations

Russia’s 9.6mn t/yr Sakhalin 2 LNG plant has resumed normal production, more than a month after an unscheduled partial shutdown. “All repair works are completed. The production of hydrocarbons and LNG is fully restored back at normal levels,” plant operator Sakhalin Energy says. An engine failure at an onshore gas processing facility halted production at one of the plant’s two liquefaction trains at the end of January (AGL, February, p15). Each train at the plant has production capacity of 4.8mn t/yr or 400,000 t/month. This is equivalent to around 6-7 standard-sized cargoes a month.
