Supply deal gives Origin LNG options

Australian upstream group Origin Energy has agreed a fiveyear deal to supply 500,000 t/yr of LNG to Chinese gas distributor ENN Energy. The deal could give Origin an opportunity to develop the Ironbark coal-bed methane (CBM) field in Queensland, for which it deferred a final investment decision in February 2015 because of lower oil prices. Origin fully owns Ironbark, which is in the Surat basin. The field is not part of the 9mn t/yr Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) development at Gladstone, Queensland, where Origin is upstream operator.
