Yamal LNG financing takes form

State-run China Development Bank, China Eximbank, Russian state-con- trolled Gazprombank, Sberbank and state-owned Vnesheconombank (VEB) have agreed on the basic terms for the financing of the 16.5mn t/yr Yamal LNG export project in Russia. The deal was signed on 23 June, a year behind schedule. Financing for the project was complicated after lead shareholder, Russian independent Novatek, appeared on a US sanctions list last year (AGL, August, p13).
