Asian LNG buyers continue to clamour for the elimination of destination clauses in their supply contracts, more competi- tively priced LNG and a greater variety of price indexation, as they seek flexibility to manage supplies and inventories amid lower oil and LNG prices. Suppliers need to offer more creative solutions to help buyers respond to risk and uncertainty, while consumers provide the impetus for change against such a market backdrop, according to speakers at the fourth LNG producer-consumer conference in Tokyo, Japan, last month.
