FLNG offers better prospects than shipping — Hoegh

Norwegian shipping company Hoegh LNG forecasts a robust long-term market for LNG carriers, floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) and floating LNG (FLNG) facilities, but predicts a challenging short-term market for carriers because of delays in new liquefaction capacity coming on line. Delays to major LNG projects are creating a lag in global LNG supply, while the large number of new vessels on order — more than 100 — look likely to be delivered on time (see below). The glut of shipping capacity, without a proportional rise in LNG supply, will weaken the shipping market in the short term, Hoegh chief executive Sveinung Stohle says.
