摘要

Philippine power generation firm First Gen has modified its LNG import plans. It has brought forward a proposed 4mn t/ yr land-based terminal at Batangas in southern Luzon region to 2018, but is expected to abandon plans for a 400,000 t/yr offshore facility that would have come on line two years earlier. First Gen will begin initial engineering work next month for the 4mn t/yr terminal. It expects to have sufficient supplies of domestic gas from the Shell-led 3.9bn m~3/yr Malampaya deepwater field to fuel a 400MW expansion of the San Gabriel power plant in 2016, removing the need for an offshore terminal that it had been considering as a stop-gap measure. It will save on hefty investment costs for a floating storage unit and vessel charter. Studies affirmed the feasibility of an onshore and a 400,000 t/yr offshore terminal (AGL, June, p14).
