InterOil courts new Gulf LNG suitors

New York-listed independent InterOil is open to approaches from third parties over the sale of gas from the Elk and Antelope fields in the Southern Highlands province of Papua New Guinea (PNG) following the end of an exclusive period for discussions with ExxonMobil. InterOil is still in negotiations with ExxonMobil, but is prepared to talk to other LNG operators about development of the two fields, which hold a combined 4.6 trillion ft3 (130bn m~3) of reserves. ExxonMobil wants to use Elk and Antelope to supply gas for additional trains at its two-train, 6.9mn t/yr PNG LNG facility, which is scheduled to start shipments in 2014 (AGL, August, p1).
