Japanese LNG imports could fall to 62mn t/yr in the long term under a low- demand scenario, utility Tokyo Gas says. Japan’s LNG imports peaked at 89mn t/ yr last year, but consumption is expected to fall because of the restart of nuclear reactors and lower electricity demand. Japanese power demand is expected to fall by around 9.8pc in 2030 compared with 2013, the company says.
