Panama accepts canal toll proposal

Panama’s cabinet council has accepted a proposal for a modified toll structure for the Panama Canal. The new tolls, which are mostly scheduled to take effect on 1 April 2016, will be priced on different units of measurement for the diverse traffic transiting the locks. The new intra-maritime cluster segment proposal, which includes bunkering vessels, will go into effect with this approval. “I am pleased we will be able to provide a more bespoke pricing solution for our customers,” Panama Canal Authority (ACP) chief executive Jorge Quijano says.
