Early results show discount-for-credit at pump is a hit, says Shell

It is just a few weeks into Shell's test of discount-for-credit at the pump, but early results show a 15 bump in transactions on the company's private-label card. There has also been an increase in applications for the proprietary Shell card, Oil Express learns. Shell launched the pilot project in September at approximately 70 stations in Boise, Idaho. Customers who use the Shell Oil card to buy fuel receive an immediate 3cts/gal discount at the pump, as exclusively reported (OE 09/03/07). The company pushed the promotion through radio and press advertisements.
