The Australian government has again delayed giving environmental approval to a proposed fourth production train at Chevron’s 15.6mn t/yr Gorgon LNG project in Western Australia. The government has pushed back plans to reach a decision under sec- tion 132 of the country’s Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, to give it sufficient time to work with Chevron. “The timing for a decision on the project will restart once the [environ- ment] department is satisfied that all outstanding issues have been resolved,” the environment ministry says.
