Cheniere to ship LNG to Chile from 2018

US LNG firm Cheniere and its partner Andes Mining and Energy(AME)wil advance an LNG import project on Chile’s south-central coast,eclipsing a govern-ment plan unveiled on 15 May that tasks state-owned oil firm Enap with developing the country’s third LNG terminal. The$850mn GNL Penco Lirquen project,formerly known as Octopus, would import 3.6bn m3/yr from Cheniere’s planned third liquefaction train at Corpus Christi,Texas,to supply a power plant that would be developed in two 570MW phases starting in early 2018(AGL,April 2013,p12).
