Santos downplays US LNG on Asian prices

Australian independent Santos does not expect the emer-gence of the US as an LNG exporter to reduce prices of gas shipped to Asia-Pacific.Domestic US gas prices are antici-pated to rise and the cost of shipping to Asia-Pacific will leave prices in line with prevailing oil-linked prices,it says. The Henry Hub gas price is likely to be$6-7/mn Btu when many US LNG projects reach full capacity in 2020,Santos chief executive David Knox says.Liquefaction and shipping costs will take the landed price of US LNG to Japan or South Korea to around$14-14.50/GJ($14.75-15.25/mn Btu).
