A state lawsuit designed to stop Enbridge from operating the Line 5 oil pipeline beneath the Straits of Mackinac in the Great Lakes will be heard in federal court, a judge ruled. The Canadian pipeline operator has been involved in a lengthy dispute with the state over the 4-mile (6.4-km) section of the aging pipeline, which ships 540,000 bpd of crude and refined products from Superior, Wisconsin, to Sarnia, Ontario.
