Lithuania awards LNG contract

The Klaipedos Nafta (KN) product terminal at the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda has awarded a contract for a 3mn t/yr floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to Norway's Hoegh LNG. The Baltic state is turning to LNG in a bid to reduce its dependence on Russian pipeline gas supplies. Hoegh LNG intends to use the second of two new regasification vessels being built in South Korea on a 10-year lease agreement with KN that will start in the second half of 2014.
