During the Washington, DC-based National Chicken Council's annual conference, the group announced four new officers will serve for 2022-2023. Kevin Garland, chief executive officer of Mountaire Farms, was named the new chairman. Randy Day, CEO of Perdue Farms, will serve as vice chairman. A new addition to the NCC officer corps will be Bill Griffith, chief operating officer at Peco Foods, who will serve as secretary-treasurer. In addition to the three new officers, Mike Brown was elected to a 12th term as president of the NCC. Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, announced that Audrey McElroy, PhD, was appointed the permanent head of the College of Agriculture and Life Science's poultry science department on Nov. 1 after serving in an interim role. As interim head, McElroy led recruitment efforts and facility improvement projects that resulted in almost $6 million in donations from individual and corporate donors for department initiatives and infrastructure. During its annual board meeting, International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA), Madison, Wis., announced Mike Eardley, the president and chief executive officer, will be retiring. The IDDBA Executive Committee has begun a search for Eardley's successor.
