'The Thompson test is a special test used lo help in the diagnosis of .suspected Achilles tendon rupture. The patient should be lying in a prone position and their knees should be flexed to 90 degrees. When the calf muscle is squeezed, there is a loss of plantarflexion in the case of an Achillestendon rupture. This can be made more obvious by comparing the injured and uninjured limbs.
