Atlantic thermal market paths diverged towards the end of the fortnight, with Richards Bay cargoes trading at successive 13-year peaks, while Northwest Europe took a breather, having scaled similar milestones last week. In Europe, German power prices fell by around 10% in the past week, driving coal and gas margins deeply into the red, however coal was well ahead of gas in the merit order.
