Singapore link-up in focus

THE Competition & Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) is inviting public feedback on the proposed merger of Sembcorp Marine and Keppel Offshore & Marine. CCCS accepted a joint notification by the leading offshore and marine companies for a decision on their planned tie-up on 29 July. It is now assessing whether it would infringe section 54 of the Competition Act 2004, which prohibits mergers that might be expected to substantially reduce competition within a market in Singapore.
