Microchip Technology has announced the E-Fuse Demonstrator Board designed to offer developers of electric vehicles a fast and reliable solution for the protection of high-voltage circuits. The board is based on silicon carbide technology and is available in six variants for battery systems from 400 to 800 V with currents of up to 30 A. The E-Fuse-Demonstrator can recognize and interrupt fault currents within microseconds, which thanks to its high-voltage semiconductor design occurs 100 to 500 times faster than with conventional mechanical means.
