Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service was awarded Good across all three pillars of the inspection. Even more impressively Shropshire achieved this across 11 sub-categories as well - one of only a handful of services to have achieved this so far, all of whom have more staff, budget and resources. Shropshire also launched their On-call Sustainability Project which is due to complete in 2025 and deliver 11 short-term goals, with an ambition to maintain their position as the leading on-cal! service for availability in the UK. The project is supported by the Sustaining Success report - ground-breaking research on how on-call personnel think and feel about being a firefighter, now and in the future. As a fire service, Durham and Darlington are constantly looking for innovative and engaging ways to share learning from incidents to ensure the learning is received and understood with maximum effect. The service recently introduced a new method which is engaging and informative for fire service personnel and partner agencies in the form of a video discussion with talking heads style clips allowing incident commanders and key personnel to share emotive first-hand video accounts of their actions at an incident. The video is produced in-house by the Communications Team, providing a highly effective method of sharing learning going forward, both internally and externally, which has proved to be both engaging and informative.
