Gazprom told to prioritise Kaliningrad LNG

Gazprom plans to build a floating stor- age and regasification unit (FSRU) in Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave to receive LNG cargoes. The 3.5bn m3/yr FSRU could be up and running in the first quarter of 2018, an industry source says, although its exact location has yet to be decided. Gazprom said in 2013 that it hoped to launch an LNG facility in Kaliningrad by 2017. Back then, it envisaged an onshore unit, but the lack of available sites prompted a rethink.
