Rosneft ready for offshore drilling

Rosneft could soon start confirming its vast offshore oil and gas resources through exploration drilling, having increased its portfolio with the acquisition of 17 new licences last year. The state-controlled firm and partner ExxonMobil will start in the southwest of the Kara Sea, where drilling is planned for August-September. They have leased the semi-submersible rig West Alpha, which ExxonMobil has used in the North Sea and which will operate in 80m of water.
