Kazakhstan’s oil and gas minister Uzakbai Karabalin announced on 15 May that the oil and gas pipelines link-ing the 11bn bl offshore Kashagan field to onshore processing facilities will have to be replaced.Project operator NCOC recently admitted that both pipelines might need to be replaced and the consortium is due to submit a plan detailing the necessary work to the government by the middle of this year(FSUE,1 May,p4).
