Moscow urges Gazprom to strike deal with CNPC

Russia’s government is urging Gazprom to reach an agreement with Chinese state-owned CNPC on pipeline gas exports, something that could benefit the country’s other gas producers. “It is high time for Gazprom to agree on the price and begin pipeline exports to China,” prime minister Dmitry Medvedev said during an online press conference on 22 October after meeting his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang. Gazprom and CNPC have been discussing the issue since 2005, with little progress.
