Vietnam’s state-run PetroVietnam has signed several new deals with Russian firms, hoping to expand in Russia beyond its Rusvietpetro joint venture with Zarubezhneft in Timan-Pechora. During a visit by Vietnamese prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Moscow this week, PetroVietnam asked the Russian government to grant Rusvietpetro new licences for acreage in Timan-Pechora. Rusvietpetro’s activ- ities centre on the Tsentralno- Khoreiverskoye elevation in Timan- Pechora, which holds about 100mn t (730mn bl) of crude across 13 fields. Rusvietpetro hopes to produce 5mn t in the region in 2018.
