Future of floating lnG in question

The prospects of floating LNG (FLNG) output becoming wide- spread are limited by technical and financial risks. Shell plans six standardised 3.5mn t/yr FLNG produc- tion facilities, starting with the Prelude project offshore Western Australia (AGC, 30 July, p7). But LNG engineers and executives at a 20 January conference in London questioned whether Shell’s FLNG model will ever take off.
