Kiev reassures on gas transit

Ukraine has taken steps to reassure European consumers that gas supplies will not be affected by its continuing wrangle with Russia over gas prices. Ukraine's energy and coal minister Yuri Boiko last week told EU energy commissioner Gunther Oettinger in a telephone conversation that Ukraine will fulfil its transit commitments, despite the difficult nature of talks with Russia. And last month, President Viktor Yanukovich said Europe “should not tremble”, promising that there will be no supply disruptions.
