US secretary of state John Kerry said in Brussels on 2 April that the US is ready to gear up to become a significant gas exporter. “Our new capacities as a gas producer, and the approval of seven export licences, is going to help supply gas for global markets,” Kerry told a joint EU-US energy council. “We look forward to doing that from 2015. We will supply more gas than all of Europe consumes today.” In theory, Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass facility in Louisiana could load 5.1bn m~3/yr of LNG for Europe from 2016.
