Gazprom mulls South Kirinsky

Gazprom has yet to choose a development scheme for its South Kirinsky field, off Sakhalin island. The company could produce oil and gas at South Kirinsky using sub-sea production or an ice-resistant offshore platform, or a combination, sub-sea production technology director Alexei Novikov told this week’s Russian Arctic Oil and Gas conference, organised by Adam Smith Conferences, in Moscow. Last year, Gazprom said it will use subsea production technology, but it may be reconsidering its approach after making a big crude find at the field in the summer last year.
