Imports of Canadian crude into the US were up by 3pc in September from August while fows into Texas remained near 500,000 b/d for a fourth-consecutive month. The US imported 3.78mn b/d of Canadian crude in Septem- ber, up by 106,000 b/d from August, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). This is also up by 10pc from the same month in 2020 when markets were still coming out of the frst wave of Covid-19-related restrictions, which had sapped downstream crude demand.
