Alcoa to boost low-carbon Al output in norway

US-based primary aluminium smelter Alcoa will invest $51mn to increase production capacity in Norway by 14,000 t/yr over the next four years. The company will upgrade electrical infrastructure at its Mosjoen smelter’s two potlines, taking primary aluminium output to 214,000t/yr from an initial nameplate capacity of 200,000t. Funding will also be used to improve on site anode production.
