Italy’s regulated LNG service draws criticism

Italy’s regulated LNG storage and regasification service has been criticised by regasification users and LNG terminals, energy regulator Aeegsi says. A user of the service as well as a terminal have criticised the system and Aeegsi is considering their comments. The regasification customer said the price for the LNG storage and regasification service has become a new reference price for regasification capacity in Italy, creating a gap with regulated tariffs outside the service. This has resulted in a competitive disadvantage for users holding longterm regasification capacity, as their capacity is effectively depreciated, it said.
