EU leaders are expected to discuss the proposed Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline later this month, after energy ministers from central Europe and the Baltic states complained about its “negative effects”. Nord Stream 2 opponents called for “substantive” talks and for the EU to speak with “one voice” on Nord Stream 2 at the 17-18 December European Council meeting. They argue that the pipeline could derail the EU’s common foreign and security policy, with “adverse” consequences for Ukraine.
