Japan’s Nippon Steel to shut Kure blast furnaces

Japan’s steelmaker Nippon Steel plans to shut all blast fur- naces (BFs) at the Kure steel works in southwestern prefecture Hiroshima by the end of September, to reduce output capacity amid shrinking demand. Nippon Steel, the world’s third-largest steel producer, aims to close the entire Kure steel works by September 2023.
