ICL obtains phosphates mine permit for Barir International potash and phosphates producer Israel Chemicals (ICL) has been granted a permit to develop a phosphates mine at the Barir field. ICL was previously denied the licence, following concerns that the project would negatively impact the health of local communities. But Israel's national planning and building council has now approved mining and quarrying activities at the site, which is situated in the Negev desert, in the south of the country.
